Fox Pass

Fox Pass was one of the best groups of the classic “Rat” era of the mid –late seventies. I played several gigs with them back then and later produced and performed with Jon Macey in Macey’s Parade in 1993-94. I always wanted to produce them back then even though I probably would not have known what the hell I was doing. Well, we’re all a little older now, and I think we’ve made the rockin’ classic pop album they always had in em. Hey… if The Cars can get back together…

Philip Hamilton

Philip is one of the greatest voices of our time as well as a great friend. He's been the featured vocalist with Pat Metheny, Donald Fagen, Mike Stern, and LaVern Baker. We toured together with LaVern in the 1989-1992 era and have written songs and worked together ever since. He and I wrote and produced this album and it features many great players and singers we have worked with including Peter Jones, Lionel Cordue, Carl Carter, Walter Platt, Joe Martino, Thaddeus Hogarth, Bill Evans, Chieli Manucci, Tim Ingles, Tim Jackson, Frank Wilkins, and my brother Kevin Marshall, as well as the engineering talents of Bill Crabtree and Pete Peloquin.

LaVerne Baker

"This is infinitely hot music. Gorgeous, romping rhythm & blues. This is LaVern Baker..."

"...she goes beyond R&B’s honking funk and smoldering passion, cutting loose with the flat-out rock & roll that made her a national star in the mid-1950s (and won her a coveted spot in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1991, only the second solo female artist so honored.)

Patricia Elena and
Anna Lucia Vlieg

Patricia and Ana are two of the most talented people I've ever worked with. This is religious music that packs a  musical and spiritual punch no matter what your belief system is.

Origen is Patricia Vlieg’s first secular album, and it is a beautiful collection of Latin Jazz featuring some of the great players of the genre: Oscar Stagnaro, Mark Walker, and Allon Yavnal (Paquito D’Rivera’s group). The songs are deep yet rhythmically swinging. Patricia was recently a featured performer at The Panama Jazz Festival and will be performing again in the Boston area later this summer.

Tus Promesas was recently accepted for consideration by the Latin Grammies. Now we have to top it with the next secular album.

The Irresponsibles

The rockinest band in Boston, they have a great songwriter in Peter Montgomery (I've known him so long that I was originally friends with his Mom-the late great Mrs. M.). Peter's a funny bastard and  the original version of Jack Black.

The Marshalls

We can't break up - we're family! Featuring Kenny, Kevin, Ellie and yours truly, here are some ditties from the Rat era when we were playing with the Cars, Real Kids, Stompers, Fox Pass, Nervous Eaters, et al. I can hear us learning how to write, sing, play and record on these tracks produced by  friends Andy Paley and Arthur Baker.

Reverend Lee

A truly inspirational singer and performer, Rev. Lee and I played for ten years at the House of Blues Gospel Brunches (which may be revived soon at another location-watch my blog for info). I've included samples from a gospel and secular album here. Funky and powerful.
